Overview: Echinodorus parviflorus also called as Rosette Sword and Tropica Sword, is one of the most preferred aquatic plants. The broad sword-like leaves and the green foliage give a lush green appearance to the tank. Although there are variations in the different cultivars of the species, Echinodorus parviflorus give exotic and beautifies the tank. It belongs to the family Alismataceae and is originated from South America. The plant is easily adaptable and can thrive well in different water conditions. The most fascinating feature of the plant is its compactness as compared to other sword plants. The undemanding nature of the plant makes it ideal for every new aquarist and different types of aquariums.

Appearance: Echinodorus parviflorus is a stem plant with rosette growth. It produces light green leaves which are broad from the base and gets pointed from above. With the hammered texture and prominent veins, the leaves get a lavish look and make the plant appear exotically pleasing to the eyes. The height of the plant remains within 2 to 6”. By removing the side shoots and older leaves; the desired height can be easily attained. With bright color foliage, this plant can be used as a mid or foreground plant to enhance the look of the tank. It grows submerged or fully emerged in the water. The plant develops small white flowers inside the water and enhances the look even more.

Hard/Soft Plant: It is a hard plant.

Ideal water temperature: The plant can thrive well in the temperature range 20 to 28 degree Celsius.

Lightning conditions: The plant requires moderate lighting but can thrive well if the substrate is nutritionally rich. However, if the compact size is desired, dim light will suffice.

Ideal pH level: pH within the range of 6.5 to 7.5 is considered the best for Echinodorus parviflorus.

Do you know: The plant propagates with adventitious shoots coming off their leaves. The shoots can be trimmed and replanted into the substrate.
