Overview: Beautiful and very attractive, Full Red Guppy, aka Flamingo Red Guppy, could be a great addition to your tank. The scientific name of this fish is Poecilia reticulate. The vividness of this guppy brings liveliness to the tank. It can make itself the center of attraction easily. Being highly adaptable in nature and undemanding, Flamingo Red Guppy got special attention from the aquarists. They can live well in a wide range of temperatures and water conditions. Male guppies are more colorful and vibrant than females.

Distribution and Habitat: Guppies are native to South America. They are predominantly found in the northeastern part of the country. Full Red Guppy is known to be the result of careful and selective breeding that has contributed to giving it bring and flamboyant colors. The nature of this fish is to hide in its natural habitat. They love hiding around the plants, rocks, driftwood, and other such things. If you want them, the tank should be at least 20 gallons in size. Keeping them with similar mates and those who are peaceful in nature will make them happy and gay.

Temperature: While Full Red Guppy can tolerate a wide range of temperatures, it is important to maintain a suitable range for making them live their full life. The ideal temperature range for Flamingo Red Guppy is 17 to 27 degrees Celsius. Try not to have sudden fluctuations in temperature that may stress the fish.

Water conditions: The salinity of water needs to be around 5.5 to 8.0. It is a wide range, which is why these guppies are considered an ideal choice for beginners. Likewise, the hardness f the water needs to be around KH 10-30 for the best results. When these water parameters are kept, the Full Red Guppies bloom and show the best coloration.

Breeding: For breeding, the ideal temperature range is around 22 to 26 degree C. Pregnant guppies are identifiable with large and dark spots near the anal vents. They can produce 100 to 200 fry at a time. Make sure you transfer the fry to the safe zone after getting delivered, or else they are eaten up by the adults. These are the livebearers that every aquarist would love to own.

Feeding: Red Flamingo Guppies are not a fussy eater. They are omnivorous in nature and can feed on all types of fish food. You can give them dried, frozen, or live food and they accept it easily. Baby shrimp, vinegar eels, daphnia, fish flakes, micro worms, etc. are some of these fish's choices. They can also be fed with egg yolk and liquid fish food.

Lifespan: When well-fed and provided ideal water parameters, Flamingo Red Guppy may live up to 2 to 3 years.
