Overview: As the name indicates, Party Red Guppy has a red tinge in half of its body. This partly red color imparts it a unique look that makes it perfect for any freshwater aquarium. Since guppies are very peaceful in nature and undemanding, they are considered ideal for beginners. At the same time, being prolific breeders and live-bearing creatures, they are great for breeding purposes too. Most of the guppies are the result of selective breeding, which is why there are more than 300 varieties of them in trade. Partly red guppy could be a great addition to the tank if you want a peaceful and attractive fish in it.

Distribution and Habitat: Guppies are freshwater fish and are predominantly found in South America. Some of the countries where they are found in the wild are Brazil, Guyana, Barbados, Antigua and Barbuda, Jamaica, Trinidad, The Netherlands, etc. Today, guppies can be found in almost every part of the world except the continent Antarctica, where the temperature is not favorable for them to survive. Make sure you have a freshwater aquarium with the tank size between 5 to 20 gallons when you are adding Partly Red Guppy.

Temperature: The preferable temperature for guppies ranges from 24 to 28 degrees centigrade. Although they can tolerate a wide range of temperatures, make sure you maintain ambient temperature conditions so that they do not get into stress. At the same time, avoid sudden fluctuations in temperature as it can make them ill.

Water conditions: pH within the range of 6.0 to 7.0 is just perfect for Partly Red Guppy. Almost every guppy fish has similar water requirements; therefore, it will be great to make them tank mates. At the same time, they are prolific breeders too. So, try to maintain the right ratio of males and females. For every one male guppy, there should be at least three female guppies.

Breeding: If you are keeping guppies for breeding purposes, slightly warmer temperatures and perfect pH will become essential. Also, you have to keep a breeding tank by the side and transfer the fry in the breeding tank after the delivery. It is because the adults may eat their fry if they are hungry.

Feeding: Guppies are very easy to handle when it comes to feeding. They are not fussy eaters and are omnivorous too. Therefore, from live worms and daphnia to blanched peas and lettuce, you can give them anything, and they will eat them without any issue. Fish flakes, dried, or frozen fish food is also good options as they complete the nutritional requirements of the guppies.

Life span: When Party Red Guppy is well-fed and provided with ambient water conditions, they live their full life, which is around 2 to 3 years. However, you have to make sure that the fish does not come under stress, is not harassed by other tank mates or males, and does not become ill.

Do you know?

When the female guppies turn 10 to 20 weeks old, they become mature enough to produce offspring. They continue to do so until 20 to 34 months of age. Male takes seven weeks to mature.
