Overview: Platinum Red Big Ear Guppy, as the name indicates, has big ears that make it different and distinguishable from others. It looks beautiful with the reddish tinge on the body. Platinum Red Big Ear Guppy is a result of years of selective breeding. Platinum body with a red tail and big ears are all that makes it worth introducing in any aquarium. Like all other guppy fish, this is also easy to care for. It is a hardy fish that can adapt to varied water conditions. However, healthy water parameters will ensure the health of the guppy too. You can find the Platinum Red Big Ear Guppy floating at the upper layers of the tank.

Distribution and Habitat: Platinum Red Big Ear Guppy was developed after careful selective breeding. However, guppy fish is indigenous to Northern South America. With the habit of swimming mostly at the upper layers of the tank, you can find Platinum Red Big Ear Guppy inhabiting that area. One thing that aquarists should keep in mind is keeping a lid at the top of the tank to protect guppies from fatal escape. It is because guppies love jumping too. The minimum tank size is 10 gallons.

Temperature: 18 to 28 degrees Celsius is the optimum temperature range for almost every variant of guppy. Although Platinum Red Big Ear Guppy is able to tolerate minor fluctuations, still try to keep the temperature within the range to keep it stress-free and healthy.

Water conditions: pH 5.5 to 8 and hardness 10 to 30 kH will be the best for Platinum red Big Ear Guppy. The water parameters are also similar for most of the guppies. Good light intensity will keep the fish happy and healthy.

Breeding: One benefit of having guppy is anyone can breed it easily- even the beginners after getting a little expertise and knowledge. You would require a separate breeding tank and a breeding box because adults often eat up the fry. Most of the guppy’s variants are the result of careful selective breeding. So, you can try your hands on breeding them.

Feeding: Being omnivorous in nature, guppies can eat all types of food- algae-based as well as meat-based. You can give them high-quality fish pellets, dried and frozen fish food as well as vegetables. Keep a variety in the diet so that the Platinum Red Big Ear Guppy gets all the nutrition and stay healthy. Brine shrimp are the best food for the fry.

Lifespan: A healthy, well-fed guppy lives for 3 to 4 years when suitable water parameters are provided to it. Keeping a variety of fish food in the diet and providing the fish with suitable water parameters will ensure that the fish completes its whole lifespan and die peacefully.
